Joining us from quaint and quiet Oakville, now living in Kitchener-Waterloo. Since the rush of getting her very first piercing, Ali was in love! Unfortunately, that set of lobes, done at the mall with a piercing gun, gave her plenty of trouble and her obsession to heal them drove her into an internet spiral of piercing and body modification. The vast well of resources was fascinating, inspiring, and gave Ali a place where she felt at home. Ali started coming to Thrive as a client in 2015 seeking out her very own custom pieces from Body Vision Los Angeles. She continued as a client until one day she worked up the courage to ask for a piercing apprenticeship. While it didn’t turn out to be a good fit at the time, it didn’t hold her back from continuing to pursue her dream career. In 2021, she began seeking out mentors, traveling from Kitchener to Waterloo and outwards into the GTA - wherever she could to gain more information and practice. During that time she maintained a part time position assisting Mandee at desk here at Thrive Studios. It was a long and tiring journey but, by the end of 2022, she was ready to put her knowledge into action. Ali is now piercing at the shop full time and is up to date on her Blood Borne Pathogens certification and modern sterilization techniques. She has also recently attended APP’23 conference - taking a full load of classes on safety and up-to-date practices. Ali LOVES all things jewelry; a few of her favourite companies including BVLA, Anatometal, Tawapa, Gorilla Glass and Junipurr - all of which we carry at the studio. Her favourite piercings to perform are kids earlobes, navels, and rooks. When Ali isn’t at work making everyone sparkle, you can find her behind a black Gibson SG in her band Basque.
